In the Kumamoto Prefecture of southern Kyushu, where rivers flooded and landslides followed by record heavy rains yesterday, human damage is increasing.

According to NHK, 16 people were killed and 13 people were missing from today's (5th) Kumamoto Prefecture as of 1 pm today, and 17 people were found in a state of rest in the flooded sanatorium.

In Kumamoto Prefecture, a strong rain cloud formed in a linear shape under the influence of the rainy season front caused a rain of up to 100 mm per hour at the dawn of yesterday and flooded 11 places in two rivers including the Kuma River.

At least 16 cases occurred, including 15 cases in Kumamoto Prefecture and 1 case in Kagoshima Prefecture due to heavy rain.

The Japan Meteorological Administration cautioned that the rainy season line that spans the Japanese archipelago is expected to stay until the eighth of the next day and rain a lot depending on the location.
