Two American policemen were dismissed after a picture of them showing them emulating the strangulation of a black man before he died, was expelled, in front of a memorial to him, according to the Colorado police announced in a statement.

Elijah McLean, 23, died in August in Aurora, 3 days after police used strangulation and injected ketamine to calm him down, but his heart stopped.

The police this week ordered the opening of a special investigation into his death, which has been renewed after George Floyd was killed when he was arrested by the police last May, which sparked outrage and widespread protests.

Police officers Erica Marrero, Kyle Dietrich and Jaron Jones mimic the strangulation that was used to control McLean.

In a statement posted on the Internet, acting Aurora Police Commander Vanessa Wilson confirmed Friday the dismissal of policeman Marrero and policeman Dietrich.

She explained that the third policeman who appears in the picture (Jaron Jones) resigned on Tuesday. She added that she understood "the devastating impact of this incident on the relationship between society and the police."

The three policemen sent the picture to a fourth policeman, Jason Rosenblatt, who responded with a laugh, according to local American media outlets, and he was also subjected to dismissal.
