Two victories in two races: after his victory at the GP of Forth Worth, Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi), five-time champion of IndyCar, offered himself the double on Saturday by winning on the Indianapolis road circuit, during the second race of the season.

The New Zealander thus offers his first victory on the circuit more known for his legendary oval. He had already won June 7 in Texas, behind closed doors, for the opening of a championship whose calendar has been completely reshaped because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dixon was almost 20 seconds ahead of Graham Rahal, while Simon Pagenaud, last year's winner of the 500 Miles and GP on the road circuit, completed the podium. Starting in 20th position on the starting line, the Frenchman nevertheless managed a good comeback.

"It's so good to race again here at Indianapolis Motor Speedway," said Dixon. "We have been second on the road so many times. This time we were lucky."

The Kiwi was able to take advantage of a last sloppy pit stop on the part of Will Power, who nevertheless started in pole position and dominated for most of the race. The Australian finished 20th.

Defending champion Josef Newgarden finished in 7th position.
