A lot of rain fell on the Kyushu region in southern Japan, centered on Kumamoto Prefecture, which is influenced by the rainy season front, causing damage to people and property.

At least 13 people were reported missing in Kumamoto Prefecture due to landslides and river flooding caused by this heavy rain.

In addition, at least two people have been rescued from the landslide site, but the cardiopulmonary arrest is still in progress.

Today (4th), floods occurred in at least seven places across the upper and lower sections of the Kuma River flowing through Kumamoto Prefecture due to heavy rain from dawn, and the surrounding towns such as Hitoyoshi City were flooded.

In Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture, where heavy rains were concentrated, the maximum precipitation per hour reached 98 mm, and in Minamata City, the total precipitation was 500 mm for 24 hours.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said at least 16 landslides, including 15 in Kumamoto and 1 in Kagoshima, were confirmed by the heavy rain.

In both prefectures, a total of 92,000 households and 200,000 evacuation orders were issued.
