It was Sisiku Ayuk Tabe who made the announcement. In a statement posted on social networks on Friday, the self-proclaimed president of Ambazonia said he had met with nine other of his fellow inmates government emissaries to discuss a cease-fire in English-speaking Cameroon according to a recommendation United Nations.
The contours of the ceasefire remain to be determined, he continued, but sources close to the separatist leader indicate that he would have renewed the preconditions already formulated last year in a correspondence to the government, namely the return soldiers from these crisis regions, the release of prisoners directly linked to the conflict, the holding of talks outside Cameroon in neutral territory, among others.
According to unconfirmed reports, this first meeting between the separatist leaders and government emissaries whose identity has not been revealed, took place in the archdiocese of Yaoundé under the eyes of Monsignor Jean Mbarga. Government officials remain silent on the matter for the time being.
