Elected environmentalist Gaëlle Rougier was elected second deputy to the mayor of Rennes Nathalie Appéré. They will be responsible for education. - C. Allain / 20 Minutes

  • With their 27% obtained in the first round of the municipal election, environmentalists had assured having negotiated "serenely" with the list of Nathalie Appéré (PS).
  • Socialists however keep hold of strategic delegations such as town planning, solidarity or health.

Largely in the lead on the evening of the second round on June 28, Nathalie Appéré was officially elected mayor of Rennes this Friday on the occasion of an extraordinary municipal council. If this phase did not involve great suspense, the session was an opportunity to reveal the names of the first assistants. For their second term alongside the socialist, environmentalists have obtained several major delegations such as education, culture, biodiversity but also the strategic post of finance.

On the strength of their 27% obtained in the first round of the municipal election, the ecologists had assured having negotiated "serenely" with the list of Nathalie Appéré. To see the portfolios they get, we understand better their smiles during the in-between turns. Appointed adviser delegate, their head of list Matthieu Theurier will officiate at "urban logistics".

Behind Marc Hervé, son of the former mayor of the city appointed first assistant to town planning, the ecologist Gaëlle Rougier obtains the strategic portfolio of education. The most surprising will undoubtedly be to see Nadège Noisette, formerly supply manager, take over finance and general administration. The elected official had worked hard to review the supplies of school canteens.

Creation of a “child-sized city” portfolio

Already in charge of culture during the previous mandate, the ecologist Benoît Careil re-stacks for six years in the same position. The man is known to have held the bass for the group Billy Ze Kick in the 1990s.

The Greens also keep the mobility and travel portfolio, strategic for future developments in favor of bikes and pedestrians. In this position, it is the former member of the Left Front Valérie Faucheux who succeeds Sylviane Rault. The environmentalist was not a candidate. We will also note the creation of a “city the size of a child” portfolio, attributed to the new arrival Lucile Koch, also a member of Matthieu Theurier's list. The latter was also accompanied by her baby in the council room.

Socialists however keep hold of strategic delegations such as town planning, solidarity or health.
