The Community Development Authority in Dubai revealed that the number of types of social benefits that it paid to the beneficiaries during the past two years reached 12 thousand and 889 benefits, which included periodic financial subsidies, the provision of housing and temporary housing assistance, rehabilitation and educational services for people of determination, in addition to urgent assistance.

The Executive Director of the Benefits and Financial Empowerment Sector at the Authority, Dr. Syed Muhammad Al Hashemi, told «Emirates Today»: “The total number of financial benefits that were disbursed according to the conditions stipulated in the Financial Benefits Law No. (7) for the year 2012 reached 6607 benefits, Of these, 4,275 periodic financial benefits are disbursed monthly to those who are entitled to them, compared to 6,282 social benefits during 2018, including 4,505 monthly financial benefits.

According to Al-Hashemi, the temporary housing benefit was disbursed to 857 due during 2019, as well as 612 due during 2018, while housing assistance was provided to 759 due during the past year, compared to 542 due in 2018.

Al-Hashemi reported that 37 study aids were also provided to people of determination in 2019, compared to 21 aids during 2018.

In response to a question about the age groups of beneficiaries of benefits and the reasons on which they were disbursed, Al-Hashemi said that the ages of those groups ranged between 30 and 70 years, and that they belong to different social situations, and conditions for the disbursement of benefits apply to them.

Al-Hashemi defined the monthly financial assistance as a supplementary assistance to the income of the head of the household, which the Community Development Authority in Dubai pays periodically to eligible citizens, who meet the conditions to meet their basic living needs and dispose of them according to the accrual line approved by the law, enumerating those conditions that include that the beneficiary is from citizens with low incomes Holders of a family book issued from the Emirate of Dubai, and a divorced or widow with dependent children bearing a family book issued from the Emirate of Dubai, in addition to the dependent children by a widow who has a family book issued from Dubai who reside permanently in the Emirate of Dubai.

Al-Hashemi dealt with the types of financial benefits provided by the authority to the beneficiaries according to terms and criteria determined by the law, which include the emergency benefit that is spent as a result of the recipient's exposure to an emergency that is beyond his control, and which results in a threat to his stability or livelihood and his financial conditions do not allow him to face it, such as fire or house collapse, as well The cut benefit to provide a dwelling which is a financial benefit paid to the beneficiary who meets the conditions for eligibility of monetary benefits in cash only once to supply the dwelling with furniture, electrical appliances and air conditioning, in addition to the temporary housing benefit that provides secure residence in a place other than social care homes, to the beneficiary who does not own a home or offer His residence for the damage is a result of an emergency circumstance, with which it is impossible to live in it for a period of one year, renewable, based on a re-examination of the applicant's request.

He referred to the qualifying benefit for the people of determination that provide cash cut off to support families with people of determination, to integrate and enable these people to contribute to the reimbursement of the rehabilitation fees by the value of the fees of those entities and a maximum of 40 thousand dirhams per person, in addition to the educational benefit of owners Alhamm, which provides severed cash assistance to support families with people of determination to integrate and enable these people to contribute to the payment of school or university fees, with a value of the fees of those agencies and a maximum of 40,000 dirhams per person.

“Empowerment in the tourism and retail sector”

The Community Development Authority implements a number of programs and initiatives to empower those entitled to social benefits and to help them achieve financial independence and stability.
