Erika Häggblad is chairman of the Children's Association in Västerbotten and says it has been a really tough time. Some midwives did not know when they would be granted leave until two weeks in advance. And in early June, there were missing 140 staff during the summer. Something that has been solved by the fact that some midwives only get two or three weeks of vacation this summer. Others have received all vacation only in September, or have had to skip their parental leave.

- This is the worst year I've been to. This autumn we will tell the region that next year you will be able to fix this, ”says Erika Häggblad to SVT Västerbotten.

The union is critical

It wasn't just in Västerbotten that at the beginning of June it looked like many passports would be unmanned. SVT News reports on problems throughout Stockholm and also in Gothenburg.

Erika Häggblad says she is critical that Västerbotten, as the only region in the country together with Västmanland, has moved holiday to September without the staff receiving compensation.

Head of Eva Evaala announces that she does not have time for an interview, but writes in a text message that it is, among other things, "good staff, good cooperation and very good will to solve the staffing of the midwives" which is the explanation that the empty schedule lines could be added in summer.
