Thursday, Martine Vassal, the candidate Les Républicains, undermined Sunday in the ballot boxes by a union of the left, withdrew in the early afternoon in favor of the deputy Guy Tessier. This would normally allow the new candidate to achieve the union of the right by recovering from the City Council the votes of the dissident Bruno Gilles. But in the evening, the ideological positioning of Guy Tessier pushed another LR running mate to run for mayor himself.
From the hard right, Guy Teissier, 75, is accused even in his own camp of contacts with the National Rally. In fact, Marine Le Pen's party now proposed to the local right a large rally "free of any sectarian spirit". The possibility of such a rapprochement prompted Lionel Royer-Perreaut, LR mayor of the 9th and 10th arrondissements, largely re-elected, to also launch himself into the race. An election already folded?
On Europe 1 Friday morning, the boss of the Republicans Christian Jacob issued a warning: "No agreement, neither with the National Front, nor with the extreme left!" However, he avoided providing clear support to one or the other of the two candidates, believing that the games were already done because, according to him, the forces present in the City Council are now equal. On the left, the negotiations seem to take place in a more peaceful climate.
