03 July 2020 Graziano Mesina, the former red primrose of Supramonte, who was definitively sentenced yesterday to 30 years for criminal association aimed at drug trafficking, is nowhere to be found.

When the Carabinieri last night, after the verdict of the Cassation that definitively sentenced him to 30 years, they showed up at his home in Orgosolo to take him to prison, Mesina was not there. Yesterday afternoon before the sentence, for the first time in a year, he did not report to the Carabinieri station in Orgosolo for signature.

Graziano Mesina yesterday waited for the sentence in Orgosolo with his lawyer Maria Luisa Vernier at his side, while the other lawyer Beatrice Goddi was discussing in Rome in Cassation. But then in the late afternoon, when it seemed that the date of the sentence was to be postponed, the lawyer Vernier returned to Cagliari and Mesina remained alone at home.

The two lawyers were blown away by the flight of their client, but for the moment they prefer not to comment on the point. The lawyer Goddi, however, in some interviews said: "We did not expect the rejection of the appeal because there were points relating to the territorial jurisdiction on which we aimed. The most serious crime was the criminal association related to Orosolo and the the judge responsible for the proceeding was to be that of Nuoro, so we thought we would get it. Mesina was optimistic too - concludes the lawyer - and awaited the sentence serenely "

Mesina, 78 years old, had been convicted of murder as a young man, then because she was held responsible for a series of kidnappings, during the 60s and 80s. Since June last year he was in Orgosolo, released from prison terms, pending the trial in Cassation, to which he had turned with his lawyers to overturn the appeal sentence of the judges of Cagliari.
