GSDF Osprey Temporary deployment at Chiba Kisarazu Garrison from 6th July 12:46 on July 3rd
The new transport aircraft Osprey, which will be introduced to the Ground Self-Defense Force, will be provisionally deployed on the 6th of this month when the first one arrives at Kisarazu Garrison, Chiba Prefecture. The Ministry of Defense is aiming to deploy it at Saga Airport in Saga Prefecture as originally planned, but there is no forecast at this time.
The Ministry of Defense is planning to deploy 17 Osprey aircraft to be introduced to the Ground Self-Defense Force at Saga Airport, but due to lack of discussions with the local community, it will be provisionally deployed at Kisarazu Garrison. ..
The first two aircraft were unloaded at the U.S. military Iwakuni base in Yamaguchi prefecture in May this year, and maintenance etc. have been carried out, but one of these aircraft flew to the Kisarazu garrison on 6th of this month, Provisional deployment has begun. Another one will arrive on the 10th of this month.
The Ministry of Defense is aiming for temporary deployment at Saga Airport within five years, as planned, but negotiations with the landowner are necessary, and the construction period for subsequent facilities will be fixed. As it is not, there is no forecast for the moment at this time.
