It was Patric Enqvist and his colleagues at the all-activity house Fabriken in Vimmerby who came up with the idea of offering young people a summer job with links to books.

Literature developer Anna Mellergård thought it was a brilliant proposal and in just a few days the concept was clear.

- They should not just read books, says Anna Mellergård.

Aimed at all young people

Anyone who lives in the municipality and was born between 2002 and 2004 can apply. The deadline for applications is 3 July. Young people who would have worked on Astrid Lindgren's world this summer have no priority.

- We address everyone. But closure became the trigger when we saw many young people lose their summer jobs, ”says Patrik Engquist. unit manager for the all-activity house factory.

It will be a first come first served, those who are the fastest to apply have the greatest chance of getting a job.

Read the book for a child

Anna Mellergård emphasizes that the job is not just about reading books, the task is bigger than that.

- They may choose books for different age groups. They should first read the book and then they will find someone who is 6-7 years old, read the book for the children and get a spontaneous reaction. Then they will write a brief and informative review, says Anna Mellergård.

She is glad that a solution has been possible so quickly.

- There are usually long processes within the municipality, but sometimes things can be resolved quickly when we do this together.
