China News Agency, Toronto, July 2 (Reporter Yu Ruidong) A Canadian armed forces personnel broke into the Canadian Government House in Ottawa on July 2 local time with weapons and were subsequently arrested by the Royal Mounted Police.

In the early morning of the same day, the man involved drove into the Governor's Mansion from the pedestrian entrance. After the vehicle was damaged, he hiked to the direction of the Governor's House Greenhouse and was quickly controlled by the patroled Royal Mounted Police. According to a press release issued by the Royal Mounted Police, the Royal Mounted Police Emergency Response Team dispatched personnel to the scene while they were questioned by the police. The man was subsequently arrested. The Royal Mounted Police confirmed that the arrested man was a member of the Canadian Army and the police are cooperating with the military to investigate.

The police said that as a precautionary measure, a response team was specially deployed to deal with chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear and explosive cases. The pictures taken by the media showed that the iron gate of the Governor's Mansion was damaged and deformed. The police blocked the scene and dispatched explosion-proof robots to inspect a pickup truck involved in the case.

At the time of the incident, Governor Julie Payette, Prime Minister Trudeau and his family were not in the Governor’s Mansion. The Royal Mounted Police stated that the incident had been resolved "rapidly and safely". Payette said through the social networking platform that all the staff of the Governor’s Office are safe. The incident is still under investigation.

Some areas of the Governor's Mansion are tourist attractions that are open to the public. However, affected by the new crown epidemic, it is not currently open to the public.

After Trudeau became Prime Minister of Canada in 2015, he did not stay in the original Prime Minister’s residence, which is not far from the Governor’s Palace but has been seriously aging.

In November 1995, a man entered the Canadian Prime Minister’s mansion with a knife and approached the bedroom of Prime Minister Chretien. Prime Minister’s wife Irene closed the door in time and called the police. In August 2010, a man was arrested with a flammable liquid on the sidewalk outside the then prime minister Harper’s mansion. On October 22, 2014, a gunman shot a soldier and broke into the Canadian Parliament building, wounded a guard, and was shot dead. (Finish)
