The problems with watercraft in central Stockholm have been discussed for many years. After the watercraft accident during the midsummer weekend, when a driver lost control and drove into a tree on the Karlberg Canal, the Liberals in Kungsholmen's district board and several of the kayak clubs in Stockholm want to see a local ban on watercraft. The Swedish Transport Agency wants to introduce driver's licenses to drive watercraft.

- Introducing a driver's license has no effect, we see this in Denmark, says Joakim Ringvide at Guppa.se, which has 8,000 members and arranges, among other things, watercraft damage.

Boat register should facilitate for the maritime police

To deal with those who violate the Maritime Law, Joakim Ringvide wants to see a boat register for all boats. Where a clearly visible digit combination on the side of the scooter will help the naval police and the Coast Guard find the bus drivers.

- Then it's easy to film or take a picture and pass it on to the police or the Coast Guard, says Joakim Ringvide.

"Extended shipping responsibility"

Joakim Ringvide believes that ownership responsibility must also be increased.

- If you lend your scooter and someone drives irresponsibly, the owner must take the penalty. Together with the numerical combination, this could be the solution to the problems of drivers who do not take care of themselves.

- It is not the large mass who misbehave. It's a small click that breaks the maritime law, concludes Joakim Ringvide.
