"The Central Bank of Venezuela will appeal against the absurd and unprecedented decision of the English court, which is aimed at depriving the Venezuelan people of gold, which is so urgently needed to counter the COVID-19 pandemic," RIA Novosti quotes the Central Bank.

As specified, in a dispute between the Bank of Venezuela and the Bank of England on the return of gold worth € 930 million, the High Court of London recognized the legality of the presidency of Juan Guaido, who proclaimed himself the head of state.

Thus, the agency emphasizes, the court rejected the claim of the Central Bank of Venezuela against the Bank of England on the return of gold bullion, which is stored there.

In January 2019, as Bloomberg reported, the Bank of England refused to give Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro gold bullions worth $ 1.2 billion.

After that, the British Foreign Ministry said that the decision related to the transfer of gold to the authorities of Venezuela is made by the Bank of England, not the British government.
