It was the starting deal. In the agreement concluded after long hours of negotiations in early June between Anne Hidalgo and environmentalists on the occasion of the interval between the two towers, the leader of the Greens David Belliard (EELV) had obtained a certain number of guarantees. In particular the overhaul of the Bercy-Charenton project, the return of the Bièvre or the pedestrianization of the surroundings of the 300 most polluted schools. And above all, to obtain a “green” district town hall.

A few days after the second round and Anne Hidalgo's big victory, her teams kept their word. "I leave the 12th arrondissement to the Greens," Emmanuel Grégoire announced in the Parisien on Thursday morning .

"I withdraw my application with sadness"

Emmanuel Grégoire, who will remain Anne Hidalgo's first assistant, will therefore not be mayor of the 12th arrondissement - despite the victory - and will withdraw in favor of the environmentalist Emmanuelle Pierre-Marie whose candidacy will be submitted to the vote of the borough councilors . “I sadly withdrew my candidacy, but I consider it my responsibility as first assistant to work at the rally. I will obviously remain very present in the 12th ”. Initially, the 5th and the 9th were in the viewfinder, but the left was held in check in these districts.

"Obviously, this is good news, that's what we asked for. Either the 11th and the 12th, where there is the Bercy-Charenton project. Emmanuelle Pierre-Marie has made an honorable score and will make a very good mayor ”, one assures in the ranks of David Belliard, solicited by 20 Minutes.  For its part, the right shouts at "imposture".

"An attack on democracy"

"While environmentalists arrived with less than 12% in 4th position in the first round of municipal elections, the town hall of the 12th arrondissement will be left to the environmental candidate. The choice of voters was therefore flouted, it is a real sham, "said the elected in a statement. And to specify: “The inhabitants of the 12th district were deceived because never during the campaign, it was question that Mr. Emmanuel Gregoire does not assume the mandate of Mayor (…) Such a lack of transparency in the engagements with the inhabitants is an attack on democracy ”.
