During the corona pandemic, the Norwegian police have taken over the task of carrying out border surveillance on Sweden. But despite reinforcements, the police in the Nordland district do not have the resources to guard the border during all hours of the day.

Some tourists have been so suggestive that they have taken the chance to forfeit when the police have gone home. This is a phenomenon that has become visible at several tourist destinations in Northern Norway, where cars registered abroad have been observed.

The police's limited resources

The Norwegian police also point out that they do not have the resources to chase foreign cars in Norway and that there are exceptions to the rules on closed borders.

"This means that there are many foreigners in Norway who have legitimate reasons to be here," writes Heidi Klökstad, police chief in Nordland, to SVT.

In the video we report from the border posting and interview police who are on duty.
