It is slow for the Liberals. In several electoral polls, the party is well below Parliament's four per cent block.

In a Novus poll for June, Nyamko Sabuni was also the party leader with the lowest confidence among voters. Only seven percent of those surveyed said they had confidence in Sabuni.

"We will turn around"

Nevertheless, Nyamko Sabuni looks bright on the future.

- That I have bad confidence figures and that my party has bad opinion numbers is a truth. I think we will soon have the opportunity to talk about politics other than just the pandemic. We have two years left for the election and I am convinced that we will turn around and make a good choice in 2022.

How come you lost your opinion?

- I do not know. I haven't read any analysis about it. That question should be asked to the analysis companies, I have not followed it so very much.

The fact that the Liberals chose not to cancel the January agreement with the Social Democrats and the Environment Party may have disappointed some bourgeois voters, Sabuni admits.

- I know I was expected to cancel the January agreement, to go into opposition. But I was clear in my candidacy that the agreement should be honored.

Don't want a roof

Nyamko Sabuni also commented on the ongoing negotiations on changes in migration policy.

According to data, there is a risk that the Environment Party will leave the government if S agrees with, among other things, the Moderates' demand for a "volume target".

- We will protect the right of asylum. Anyone with protection will have to stay.

Do we need a roof?

- We cannot have a roof if we are to protect the right of asylum, but a benchmark can be designed in different ways.

- I want Sweden to have laws similar to other EU countries. I think it is important that Sweden is not a country that does not attract more people than other EU countries do.
