The Republican governor of Texas announced Thursday that it is mandatory to wear a mask in public places. Texas had to backtrack in the face of a rebound in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations.

Greg Abbott, the Republican governor of Texas, announced Thursday the wearing of the compulsory mask in public places, because of the increase in the cases of Covid-19. "We can keep businesses open and develop our economy so that Texans can continue to make a living, but that requires each of us to play our part in protecting each other, which means covering our faces in the spaces public, "said President Donald Trump's ally in a statement.

Ban on gatherings of more than 10 people 

Published on the eve of the American National Day weekend, this governor's decree also gives local officials the power to ban certain gatherings of more than ten people outside. Texas is one of the states to have reopened its economy at the beginning of May, a process of deconfinement put on "pause" last Thursday. As of Friday, Greg Abbott also ended room service in bars.

Texas has reported at least 168,062 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
