Simrishamn's hospital offers near-term care as well as some specialized outpatient and outpatient care. The hospital's mission also includes youth reception in Tomelilla and Simrishamn.

- It is very gratifying that we can now give a clear message to the southeastern skiers about who it is that will continue to run the hospital in Simrishamn. Simrishamn's hospital has an important role to play both locally and regionally, says Gilbert Tribo (L), chairman of the health board.

The aim of the procurement has been to develop and strengthen open specialized local health care as well as some inpatient care in south-eastern Skåne.

Many elderly people in the municipality

- It feels good that we have completed this important procurement. We feel confident that the citizens of Region Skåne will continue to receive close care of good quality and with high accessibility, says Pia Lundbom, Director of Health and Medical in Region Skåne.

Southeast Skåne has a larger proportion of older people than the other Skåne municipalities. It is the elderly population that makes up the majority of patients for operations at Simrishamn Hospital.

At present, it is the National Health Service Österlen AB, which is responsible for the operation and their agreement expires on April 30 next year. The new agreement runs for six years.
