Like other magazines, BLT is in a difficult transition, wrestling with attracting readers to both paper magazine and digital news. At the same time, the corona crisis came and hit several industries, as did the media industry.

- Corona has not had a positive impact on the media industry. We were already in the midst of a very challenging transition, says Mimmi Karlsson-Bernfalk.

One of 192 approved applications

The consequences have, among other things, been reduced advertising revenue and therefore BLT sought support from the Media Support Committee. Of the 231 applications that were received, 192 applications were granted for support of just over SEK 120 million.

Three of them go to Blekinge, where a million each are distributed to the newspaper's local editorials in Olofström, Sölvesborg and Ronneby.

"Of course, the money is welcome," says Karlsson-Bernfalk.

The grant will be used to keep the magazine local and in place. It is also hoped to have opportunities to develop local journalism.
