Nyamko Sabuni made his first Almedals week as party leader last year - and promised a new and clear course for the party. When the L leader is now being interviewed in the Morning Studio instead of the politician week, which is canceled due to the pandemic, L is a party with several problems.

- They have been parked firmly under the parliamentary block since October 2018. They are divided both in the government and the matter. They have a January collaboration that was opposed by at least half the party leadership, and they also have low confidence in most matters, says Elisabeth Marmorstein in the Morning Studio.

Nyamko Sabuni himself has low confidence figures as a party leader - the figures have plummeted from 21 to seven percent in one year. According to Marmorstein, the basic explanation is the January collaboration, which is a major crack in the party.

"Right voters disappointed"

- It was a disappointment from many right-wing voters that she did not turn right out directly. Then she lost confidence in that constituency. Nor has she delivered the great clarity and renewal she promised when she was elected.

The fact that it is tough for many female party leaders in the beginning we have seen before - is there a difference here?

- Both Ebba Busch and Annie Lööf are clear examples of the turnaround. Lööf was also at just seven percent when she had been party leader for just over a year. But both Busch and Lööf had a clear idea of what they wanted with their parties, and it can be assumed that Sabuni also has, but what that idea is is not clear yet.

Hope for the integration issue

According to Marmorstein, Sabuni and the Liberals hope that integration can become a winning issue for the party.

- Many of her supporters highlighted her credibility in the integration issue as a reason to choose her. At that time, not only did she refer to her refugee background, but also because she has been on the same line ever since the beginning of the 2000s, which is based on high expectations and demands on those who come. But in 2002 it was controversial and today it is public goods. This makes it more difficult for L to stand out on that issue.
