The New York Stock Exchange advanced Wednesday at the start of the session after a number of private jobs created in June in the United States deemed satisfactory, and encouraging developments in the search for a vaccine against the coronavirus.

Around 1:50 GMT, its flagship index, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.38% to 25,911.55 points.

The Nasdaq, with a strong technological coloring, appreciated by 0.11% to 10,070.14 points.

The broader S&P 500 Index, which represents the 500 largest companies on Wall Street, gained 0.37% to 3,111.89 points.

Wall Street had completed its best quarter on Tuesday in more than two decades: from April to June, the Dow Jones climbed nearly 18% and the Nasdaq by 31%.

Private companies in the United States created 2.4 million jobs in June, in an economy that is gradually reopening, according to the monthly survey of the business services firm ADP published on Wednesday.

If it is below expectations (+3.75 million) and down compared to the previous month after the revision of the data for May (+3.07 million compared to -2.7 million previously), this figure was rather well received by investors.

"Hiring among small businesses accelerates in June," said Ahu Yildirmaz, co-director of the ADP Research Institute, quoted in a statement.

In addition, market players reacted to the publication by the American pharmaceutical laboratory Pfizer of positive results of an early phase clinical trial on a vaccine against the coronavirus.

According to preliminary results, patients who received a dose of 10 or 30 micrograms of the vaccine developed on day 28 of the treatment neutralizing antibodies, crucial to protect themselves from the virus.

This trial was carried out in partnership with the German company BioNTech with 45 patients, each having received doses of 10, 30 or 100 micrograms.

The title of Pfizer rose by almost 4% in the first exchanges on Wall Street.

On the bond market, the 10-year rate on the American debt climbed, standing at 0.6955% against 0.6561% on Tuesday evening.
