The inaugural ceremony on July 1, 2000 attracted large crowds to the bridge party on the Swedish side, despite the fact that it was more autumnal than beautiful summer weather. The celebration had the edge of sorrow. Queen Margrethe wore black costume and the Prime Minister of Denmark called for a silent minute to honor the nine people who the night before the inauguration were crushed to death in front of one of the scenes at the Roskilde Festival.

"Futurism and Breading"

It has been 20 years and a lot of water has run under the Öresund Bridge in a double sense. King Carl XVI Gustav spoke on the inauguration day that the bridge is the symbol of future faith and brotherhood. He coined the word "ear healthier" and received applause.

Today, the media talk more about differences than about similarities between Sweden and Denmark. It became clear as late as last week when Denmark first said that scans of several would be released into the country to say a few days later that it was not possible. Danish merchants and restaurant owners in Helsingör went from cheering to tying their fists.

New lighting on the bridge

Today's celebration is mainly digital but to show that it is cool, the pay station is decorated in both directions. In honor of the day, the bridge pylons receive new lighting, which should be more energy efficient than the original. It will light at 23:15 every night from today until July 5.

The morning studio broadcasts at 9 am on Wednesday directly from the Öresund Bridge.
