01 July 2020 Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, has met the ambassadors of the United States of America and the State of Israel "to express the concern of the Holy See about possible unilateral actions that could further jeopardize the search for peace between Israelis and Palestinians and the delicate situation in the Middle East ".
The meeting, the Vatican informs, took place yesterday.

"As already stated on November 20, 2019 and May 20 - the Vatican notes - the Holy See reiterates that the State of Israel and the State of Palestine have the right to exist and to live in peace and security, within borders internationally recognized ".

The Holy See therefore "appeals to the Parties to seek to reopen the path of direct negotiation, on the basis of the relevant United Nations resolutions, facilitated by measures that serve to restore mutual trust and have the courage to say yes to the meeting. and no to confrontation; yes to dialogue and no to violence; yes to negotiation and no to hostilities; yes to respect for agreements and no to provocations; yes to sincerity and no to duplicity '".
