In January, Leif Sjögren posted a Blocket ad about a farming machine. The following week three people came to fetch the machine.

- It felt in my stomach that something was not right. They came with a Volvo and would fetch a machine weighing 2000 kilos, says Leif Sjögren.

Assaulted in his home

The trio pushed Leif Sjögren into his house and began to search it. Soon they found the Sjögren family's safe, which they tried to drag out to the car. Along the way, they destroyed doors and floors. Since the safe weighed close to 250 kilos, the robbers did not bring it into the car. Instead, they brought other valuables with them.

- My gold watch that I received after 25 years of service in the municipality and a few thousand in cash. They also destroyed two iPads by hitting them against the safe, says Leif Sjögren.

The assault in his home in Fuglie has left his mark on him.

- I have become more observant if there is any unusual sound, and if I see such a Volvo, then it feels strange. But things happen all the time, life goes on, says Leif Sjögren.

Ystad District Court determines the case

On July 9, the case of the robbery is expected to be decided.

The prosecutor judges several of the robberies as gross because defenseless persons have been subjected to severe violence. The prosecutor also points out that the trio acted systematically by selecting elderly defenseless people who live secluded where the risk of being detected or interrupted is small.

According to the indictment, the robbery was carried out by a trio of two men and one woman. The prosecutor is serving six years in prison for two of the suspects and eight years for the third.

The first robbery was against Leif Sjögren. That the robbers stated that they wanted to look at an item that was advertised on the Block was the method they then used for more robberies.

Elderly couple exposed to serious violence

Other robberies and robbery attempts took place in Tomelilla, Borrby, Löderup, Högestad and Vollsjö, and the robbers must have received large amounts of cash, among other things.

At the last robbery, in Vollsjö on January 30, an elderly couple was subjected to serious violence. The man was beaten and beaten so badly that he lost consciousness. The woman was threatened with a knife to her chest for being forced to open a safe and hand over bank cards and codes.
