Hong Kong arrested a man on suspicion of violating the National Security Act First 15 July 34th July 1

Hong Kong police announced yesterday afternoon that they had arrested a man on suspicion of violating the Hong Kong National Security Act, saying he had a flag labeled "Hong Kong Independence."

The Hong Kong National Security Act stipulates acts such as country division and subversion of government as crimes.

Police say the first arrests have occurred since the law came into effect last night, local time.

In central Hong Kong, a protest against the law was called for on the 1st.
