01 July 2020 The number of people arrested in Hong Kong for protests today against the national security law in the city rises to 370, ten of whom - six men and four women - for crimes punishable by the new law, which entered into force yesterday.

The police announced on Twitter, at the end of a day marked by the clashes between the agents and protesters, culminating with the use by the police of stinging sprays, rubber bullets, water cannons and chemicals and tear gas to disperse the crowd. In total, seven officers were injured in the clashes.

The most serious cases concern a policeman hit with a pointed object on the shoulder and three others hit by a "rioter", as described by the police, on board a motorcycle.
