July 01, 2020 Hong Kong police carried out the first arrest under the new national security law after its entry into force: it is a man, according to local media, who possessed an independent Hong Kong flag in Causeway Bay, where an unauthorized demonstration is expected shortly. The police, meanwhile, have also used the new purple flag for the first time, which serves as a warning to demonstrators who use illegal flags or banners or who chant choruses and slogans that express resolutions of secession or subversion.
