Monday, June 29, six police officers from an intervention unit in Seine-Saint-Denis, in the Paris suburbs, were taken into police custody during an operation led by the IGPN. They are suspected of possession and transport of drugs and of theft. This police force will be partly dissolved by the authorities.

Violence, theft, falsification of reports and crimes linked to drug trafficking: the Seine-Saint-Denis police are at the heart of a scandal that will not go unnoticed because of the climate of mistrust that reigns in France between citizens and police.

The investigation is said to have started several months ago, with the wiretapping of the personnel concerned in order to understand their practices. In August 2019, this company, CSI 93, had already been implicated in a violent arrest, in the city of Cordon in Saint-Ouen. But the six police officers arrested at the time had been released.

Things look more complicated this time, since about fifteen investigations are underway. Six police officers are also in police custody.

The hierarchy has already announced that part of the CSI 93 will be dissolved. The CSIs work to secure neighborhoods and can also participate in law enforcement missions. They are made up of specialized units working in uniform or in civilian clothes.
