He had been left with a cell phone to call if necessary. In mid-December, a 12-year-old girl was left alone in the car by her mother and her companion, who had left to party in a night bar in Landéda (Finistère), reports Ouest-France .

Asleep, the teenager had been awakened by the intrusion of a man into the vehicle. No matter how hard she tried to call, her stepfather never picked up the phone. She had alerted the gendarmes. When they arrived, the latter had arrested the couple, receiving a round of insults in passing.

On Tuesday, the couple was tried before the Brest criminal court. Aged 35 and 50, they were found guilty of this abandonment. The teenager's mother was given a three-month suspended prison sentence, reports Ouest-France . Her companion was fined.
