Greener? More social? Emmanuel Macron is currently pondering the tone he will give at the end of his five-year term. A line that he is stopping and that inevitably will have an impact on the casting of the future government.

According to the entourage of the President of the Republic, the major reshuffle is planned in the coming days and he consults frantically without leaking his intentions.

In particular on the fate of his Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe, widely re-elected in Le Havre last Sunday and who enjoys a particularly good popularity rating. The profile of the latter, whose role is important for the center-right electorate, may not correspond to the new ambitions of the Head of State.

The shift that has begun on questions of ecological transition, more social policy or method, like what has been done for the Citizens' Convention with citizens drawn by lot, could be incompatible with Edouard Philippe.

The two men also have dissension, in particular the financial aspects of the pension reform. Emmanuel Macron said he wanted to restart the reform but perhaps without the pivotal age, defended by the head of government.

Barnier, Borloo, Parly

Names are circulating to replace him in Matignon, that of Michel Barnier, the Brexit negotiator, Jean Castex, the "Monsieur déconfinement", the former Minister of Ecology Jean-Louis Borloo, or Florence Parly, the Minister of the Armies who know the government machine well. The name of the president of the Ile-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, is also whispered.

Emmanuel Macron's decision would not yet be taken, but, according to his relatives, the question will be decided by the start of next week, or even this Thursday or Friday.
