A 32-year-old man was seriously injured this Wednesday in the fire of his cell at the Rennes Vezin prison center. Alerted by the staff, the firefighters took charge of the detainee, who was transported in absolute emergency to the CHU Pontchaillou, under escort.

According to the emergency services, it was prison staff who extracted the detainee from his cell, located on the ground floor. The man was reportedly seriously affected by the inhalation of smoke. On site, around thirty firefighters carried out a reconnaissance of the upper floors and ventilated the buildings. Three other people were said to have been slightly affected by the smoke. Opened in 2010, the Rennes-Vezin prison receives around 800 detainees.
