A young man who participated in brawls between neighborhoods in Houilles, in the Yvelines, in June was indicted and imprisoned, suspected of having cut the hand of another with a butcher blade, we learned this Wednesday from police sources. The particularly violent clashes which had taken place "against a background of scooter theft" had taken place on June 11 and 14 between thirty young people from the popular district of the Indies, in Sartrouville, and twenty others from the city of Hoche , in Houilles, two neighboring cities, according to the same source.

The youths clashed with fireworks, iron bars, baseball bats and crutches. On June 14, an 18-year-old young man from Sartrouville had his hand severed and another, a 19-year-old man, was wounded in the head. Hearings, neighborhood investigations and use of video surveillance made it possible to identify "a minor individual, unfavorably known to the police", like the attacker of the young man injured in the hand, according to the police.

DNA analysis

DNA analyzes carried out in particular on the handle of a butcher's sheet - a kind of knife used to cut up carcasses - found a few days after the facts at the scene of the clashes made it possible to confuse him. Arrested and placed in police custody, he admitted having participated in the brawls, but denied having used the butcher's sheet, which he nevertheless indicated that he had on hand.

The teenager was brought in on Saturday and charged with "attempted murder, intentional violence in a meeting with a gun" and "participation in an armed gathering", police said. He was imprisoned at the Fleury-Mérogis prison.
