29,813 dead in France since the start of the epidemic

The latest report from the Ministry of Health, reported Monday evening of 35 new deaths in hospitals linked to Covid-19 since Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to 29,813. At the same time, the number of resuscitations for Covid-19 cases continues to decrease. It stands at 619 cases, 15 less since Friday. 

If the epidemic ebb continues in metropolitan France, in Guyana, the circulation remains "worrying", recalled the Directorate General of Health. In addition, two patients were transferred to Guadeloupe during an initial medical evacuation by military aircraft. Other evacuations "will take place in the coming days," said the ministry.

Agnès Buzyn, ex-Minister of Health, heard before the deputies

The former Minister of Health, Agnès Buzyn, will have to answer Tuesday from 5 p.m. to questions from MPs on the management of the Covid-19 epidemic. They will question him in particular on the evaporation of the state stock of protective masks. The deputies should probably ask him for explanations on the follow-up given to a letter from the public health agency France, which recommended in 2018 to replenish the stock of masks to the tune of one billion units.

Finally, only 32 million masks arrived during 2019, the rest having been received only in February, when the Covid-19 epidemic had just reached France.

Véran promises 300 million euros to doctors 

The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced Monday that he would release 300 million euros to increase the salaries of hospital doctors. This envelope, announced by the Minister as part of the Ségur de la santé, launched at the end of May, is considered insufficient by the unions, which claim seven billion euros.

The coronavirus pandemic has killed at least 502,599 people worldwide since China officially reported the disease in December. More than 10,208,540 cases of infection have been officially diagnosed in 196 countries and territories since the start of the epidemic. Among them, 5,094,900 cases are today considered cured.

The United States, which recorded its first death linked to the coronavirus in early February, is the country most affected in terms of number of deaths and cases, with 125,928 deaths for more than 2.5 million cases. The countries most affected are then Brazil with 57,622 deaths for more than 1.3 million cases, the United Kingdom with 43,575 deaths, Italy with 34,744 deaths and France with 29,813 deaths (200,667 cases).
