Yesterday, the Reuters news agency reported that Greece stops direct flights from Sweden. The reason for traveling from Sweden to Greece, despite the disappearance of the Foreign Ministry's advice, is therefore unclear.

SVT News has been in contact with the Foreign Ministry's press service, which states that the embassy in Athens is working to get clarity on what applies and that there is no new message since Monday night.

On Tuesday, tour operator Tui confirmed that they have been given the green light for their two scheduled charter flights which will take off to Rhodes this week and next.

- We have had a close dialogue with the Greek authorities where we landed in that we are allowed to fly these two flights and take part and open up the journey from Sweden a little cautiously, says communications manager Adam Györki to TT and continues:

- Traveling must be done in a safe and controlled manner. Travelers will have mouth protection on the plane and corona testing at the airport may be required.

Here are the countries you can travel to

Today, June 30, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is thus relieving its advice on unnecessary travel. Countries covered by Belgium, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and Hungary. In addition, Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican City. The demolished advice concerns visiting and tourist trips.

The day after the message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last week, pressure increased significantly on the tour operators' booking sites. Popular holiday countries such as France, Greece, Italy and Spain attract, despite stricter rules during travel and varying degrees of restrictions on travel destinations.

Ellen Laurin, press contact at Swedavia, which operates ten of Sweden's largest airports, says that you will have the staffing required for traffic but that during the day there was no significant increase in travelers.

- From tomorrow there will be some more traffic, at least in Stockholm. But it's still about low levels, she says.

The advice applies to Sweden's neighboring countries

For the travel industry, one of the big losers in the pandemic, travel relief means at least some light in an otherwise compact darkness.

But except for the 14 countries that have now been given the green light, the Foreign Ministry's advice for other countries within the EU, the EEA and the Schengen area remains until July 15. The advice therefore still applies to Sweden's neighboring countries. And the advice to countries outside Europe has been extended to 31 August.

However, a recommendation from unnecessary travel is not the same thing as a ban. It is up to the traveler to decide on his or her journey. It is important to know that most insurance companies, with some exceptions, exclude travel insurance in home insurance as long as a recommendation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs exists.

Insurance companies make demands

For travel to the ten "released" countries, the insurance situation should be taken into account. For a viral disease such as covid-19, it is generally necessary to have been symptom-free for the past three months in order for home insurance travel cover to apply, according to Gabriella Hallberg, lawyer at the Consumer Insurance Agency.

- You must not go with an ongoing illness or ongoing care needs, she says.
