The cuts are made in France (5,000 posts), Germany (5,100 posts) and Spain (900 posts). In the United Kingdom, 1,700 posts disappear, while around 1,300 are dismissed elsewhere.

Hoping for voluntary departure

Airbus's hope is that it will be possible to cut down on voluntary retirement and retirement, but can not rule out that people will be terminated.

"Air traffic is not expected to recover to the levels that existed before the covid pandemic until 2023 or even 2025, so Airbus must take action," the company said in a statement to the news agency AP.

Airbus returned EUR 481 million during the first quarter.
