The new school year in Russia will begin on September 1, as usual. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Education Sergey Kravtsov.

“The children will go to school. We are preparing for this. The children themselves are getting ready. They missed school. Teachers are getting ready - they also want to see their students, ”the minister said on the Russia 24 channel.

Kravtsov explained that epidemiological protection measures will be strengthened in schools, taking into account the situation with coronavirus infection.

Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova also stated a high degree of confidence in the possibility of starting the school year in Russian schools on time. She explained that the department made special recommendations, and called the situation with the coronavirus manageable.

Recall, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Russian students graduated from the past school year remotely. Graduation celebrations also took place online.

On May 13, the Ministry of Education announced that it would adjust the timing of the Unified State Exam in 2020 due to the epidemiological situation - it was decided to postpone it from June 8 to a later period.

The department said that graduates who do not plan to enter higher education institutions are allowed to not pass the exam, their grades will be marked by the end of the year.

In addition, compulsory exams in the Russian language and mathematics were canceled for students in ninth grades, and final grades were also set on the basis of annual.

President Vladimir Putin during a meeting on the situation in the education system on May 21 said that the Unified State Examination in Russia would begin on June 29. He added that it will be possible to submit documents to several universities at once without a personal presence.

“What is especially important for people now - enrollment will take place in August. In addition, for school graduates who, for good reasons, will not be able to take the exam in June, in August it will be possible to pass an exam in the exam format for the remaining places in higher educational institutions. That is, to start learning in the fall, without losing a whole year, ”the head of state added.

Also at the meeting, Putin commented on rumors that remote education could completely replace full-time education after the pandemic. The Russian leader emphasized that, during the period of restrictive measures, online learning has become a unique experience that should work to improve the quality and accessibility of education. At the same time, he pointed out that this type of training cannot replace the live communication of the teacher and student. Vladimir Putin drew attention to the fact that the education system "not only teaches, but also educates, in many ways forms a personality."

“All the rumors and stuffing that distance education will completely replace and supplant full-time education, that traditional schools and universities will be closed, I consider it as an open provocation,” Putin added.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Communications announced its intention to begin an experiment on the introduction of a digital educational environment that will allow students of schools and colleges to go away in the event of outbreaks of SARS and other infections.

The project starts in 14 regions of Russia from September 1 of this year, including the Altai and Perm Territories, Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Kemerovo, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Sakhalin, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk Regions, as well as the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

In turn, Sergey Kravtsov said that the USE points will be equipped with personal protective equipment, and the seating arrangements will be organized taking into account the distance of at least one and a half meters. He also specified that the examination in the Russian language, which is the most popular, is planned to be divided into two days in order to avoid the accumulation of graduates in the audience.

Later, the minister said that the decision to issue certificates for 11th grade without passing the exam has led to the fact that the number of exam participants this year has decreased by about 10% and amounts to about 640 thousand people.

The decree on the issuance of certificates to schoolchildren without passing exams on June 11 was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The document notes that graduates who want to continue their education in secondary professional educational organizations will be enrolled in them according to the results of the certificate.

In addition, at the end of May, Acting Head of Rosobrnadzor Anzor Muzayev said that the chances of entering the budget departments of universities with graduates of 2020 are increasing due to an increase in the number of budget places. In addition, the passing score will decrease.
