At the end of September last year, a couple of 60s died as they passed the unguarded railway crossing in Granberget, a few miles outside central Boden.

In the Swedish Transport Administration's investigation report, the accident was mainly because the driver did not stop for the stop sign. But it was also noted that there is a hidden view around the transition.

The Swedish Transport Administration plans to clear away the forest

Today, there are around 3,500 unprotected road crossings around Sweden and the Swedish Transport Administration plans to make many of these crossings safer. The railway crossing in Granberget will be upgraded in a few years, according to the Swedish Transport Administration's investigation report, but the authority will soon start clearing away the forest, which will impair visibility.

- We are on the way out with the contractor who has the assignment, says Bengt Olsson, Press Manager at the Swedish Transport Administration.

In the video above you can see what it looks like around the railway crossing and how close the rail village Arne Wiklund must drive to get free visibility.
