This spring it became clear that the government will distribute SEK 500 million in crisis support to non-profit associations due to the corona pandemic, the money is distributed by the Swedish Sports Federation. According to the Sports Express, it is now clear that the SHL clubs will benefit from just over SEK 60 million. The teams that ranked in the top six and were already ready for the quarterfinals will receive the largest amount of money. For HV71, this means SEK 5.3 million.

How much of what you lose covers this money?

- It is impossible to say at the moment, we only know that in a year, says Agne Bengtsson.

Concern for the future

Since March, the club has had staff members and players laid off to varying degrees.

- We look at each position every week. We are going to play hockey here this fall so it is a difficult balancing act, explains Agne Bengtsson.

The club manager in HV71 is worried about the future and the activities of the elite clubs.

- We need a turnaround in this pandemic, that it is going in the right direction soon.

As it looks now, SHL will start on September 19, but it is currently unclear whether it will be with the public.

The women's hockey league starts on September 12 and HV71 will also receive support money from the National Sports Association. There, the final law, HV71 and Luleå, will be divided into SEK 870,000.
