It was not until June 23, three years after the discovery of the victim's bones, that the police managed to specify what the young man would have done before disappearing: three people were arrested. Two of them will be dismissed, but another, a 30-year-old man, one of his friends at the time, ended up giving himself up to the investigators. In police custody, he would have explained that they had gone to Narbonne together, after the rave party. They would then have decided to sleep on the spot, in an abandoned house, in a context of taking large narcotics.

He would have recovered the victim's phone

As he crossed the wall of a villa, the suspect would have noticed that his traveling companion was on the ground, unconscious. The man reportedly told investigators that he was no longer breathing, that he had no pulse. That's where the case takes a gruesome turn: rather than calling for help, the 30-year-old is suspected of having thrown the victim's body into an unsealed sewer, near there, police say. .

However, he retrieved the victim's cell phone, and simulated exchanges of calls and SMS with his own, said the police. To the investigators who were then working to find the young man, the suspect would then have indicated that their paths had separated, and that he had no idea where he was. The man was charged with "failing to assist a person in danger" and "attacking the integrity of a corpse", and placed in pre-trial detention at the Béziers prison.
