Cargo volume achieved positive monthly growth. The cargo throughput of the port grew steadily.   From January to May, investment in fixed assets of transportation was 1,022.3 billion yuan, an increase of 0.9% year-on-year, of which 343.3 billion yuan was completed in May, an increase of 27.0% year-on-year. The completed investment of highways and waterways was 771 billion yuan, an increase of 2.3% year-on-year. Among them, the investment of highways was 718.3 billion yuan, an increase of 1.0% year-on-year. Inland rivers and coastal areas completed investments of 21.9 billion yuan and 19.9 billion yuan, an increase of 1.9% and 1.7%, respectively.

Over half of business passenger traffic recovered

  In May, 740 million passenger passenger traffic was completed, reverting to 50.7% in the same period last year. The degree of recovery was 10.9 percentage points higher than in April, of which road passenger passenger traffic decreased by 49.2% and water passenger traffic decreased by 51.0%.

  From January to May, the number of completed passenger traffic was 3.16 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 56.9%. Among them, the volume of highway passenger traffic decreased by 57.3%, and the volume of water passenger traffic decreased by 59.0%.

Central city public transportation continues to recover

  In May, the public transportation of 36 central cities completed 3.52 billion passengers, recovering to 60.9% in the same period last year, and the degree of recovery increased by 10.9 percentage points compared with April. In terms of different modes, the volume of public automobile and tram, rail transit, cruise taxi and ferry passenger traffic decreased by 42.8%, 34.1%, 37.7% and 54.9% respectively.

  From January to May, the passenger transport volume of public transportation in 36 central cities was 13.11 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 51.5%. In terms of different modes, the volume of public automobile and tram, rail transit, cruise taxi and ferry passenger traffic decreased by 54.0%, 48.2%, 50.5% and 59.4% respectively.

Freight volume increases

  In May, the completed freight volume was 4.07 billion tons, which turned from a decrease of 2.1% in April to an increase of 0.4%. It was the first positive growth since the beginning of this year, of which road freight volume increased by 0.4% and waterway freight volume decreased by 0.2%.

  From January to May, the freight volume completed was 15.73 billion tons, down 10.4% year-on-year, of which road freight volume decreased by 12.0% and waterway freight volume decreased by 9.9%.

Port throughput increased steadily

  In May, the national port completed cargo throughput of 1.26 billion tons, an increase of 4.4% year-on-year, and the growth rate was basically the same as that in April. Among them, domestic and foreign trade throughput increased by 6.0% and 0.9%, respectively. The container throughput reached 21.68 million TEUs, a year-on-year decrease of 3.2%.

  From January to May, the national port completed cargo throughput of 5.46 billion tons, a year-on-year decrease of 0.8%, of which domestic and foreign trade throughput decreased by 1.6% and increased by 0.9% respectively. The container throughput was 97.52 million TEUs, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8%.
