France: Bruno Le Maire presents a plan to revive small business

Local shops in France must be saved. The Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire presented this Monday to deputies a support plan for artisans, small traders and self-employed, often hit hard by the consequences of the health crisis. In total, more than 3 million VSEs are concerned to avoid chain bankruptcies.

The situation is serious. According to Bercy, by the end of the year, 15 to 30% of small businesses could disappear. The first axis of this plan: support treasuries with 400 million euros in charge cancellation. And new measures as detailed by the Minister of the Economy.

“  The solidarity fund will be extended by one month for all and the conditions for access to additional aid will be lightened. The condition of refusing a loan guaranteed by the State will be removed. 500 million additional credits will be added to the solidarity fund  , ”said Bruno Le Maire.

To revitalize local trade, the State also plans to deploy 100 land companies via the Banque des Territoires. The objective is to renovate 6,000 small businesses and offer inexpensive rentals.

"  These funds, which are established with local authorities, communes, departments, regions, will buy vacant premises or shops on the verge of closing, renovate these premises and rent them at a preferential rate to traders who are looking for a local, specifies The Minister. It is the best, most efficient and most radical way to revitalize businesses in towns and rural communities. "

Finally, the last part of this recovery plan: supporting the digital transition to allow artisans to improve their visibility and operation. Mention is made of training, but also aid for investment in technological tools.
