A green wave paraded over France during the second round of municipal elections. While ecological candidates have won several big cities, Olivier Faure, first secretary of the Socialist Party, said this Monday "ready" to line up behind the candidate who "will embody the social-ecological block" for the presidential 2022.
"I am a happy man because it has been two years since I fought so that we come up with this solution", he declared on RTL while evoking the union of the ecologists and the left parties which allowed the Greens to win the town halls of Bordeaux, Lyon, Strasbourg, Poitiers or Besançon. "It is a victory, first of all, of the rally and of the ecological social block," he added.
A “social-ecological” candidate, whatever his party
Asked if he would be ready to follow a candidate from the ecological ranks for the presidential election in 2022, he replied: "I am ready to line up behind the one who will embody the socialist ecological block". "We should not look at things according to the origins of each, the question is not where he comes from but where he is going and where we are going together," he added about this future candidate.

Could this union go as far as LFI and Jean-Luc Mélenchon? "The door is open to all those open to building a compromise (...), the question is for those who have so far decided to stand apart," he noted.
