Linköping District Court sentenced the 22-year-old to 12 years in prison, but the High Court now shortens the sentence to 10 years.

In essence, the court of law agrees with the district court; It was the 22-year-old who shot the 24-year-old and he thus committed the crime of attempted murder. However, with the difference that the High Court judges that the 22-year-old's intent "did not extend beyond the so-called indifference intent". Therefore, the sentence is mitigated by two years.
Otherwise, the High Court determines the damages of SEK 142,300 which the 22-year-old must pay to the 24-year-old.

Bought junk from "wrong" sellers

The reason for the murder attempt must have been that the 24-year-old bought drugs from someone other than the 22-year-old and then resold it in Skäggetorp.
The 22-year-old has connections to the X-team, which dominates the drug trade in the area. X-team is one of the groupings under the criminal MC gang Bandidos.

On February 15 this year, a cousin of the 24-year-old was murdered when someone shot straight into an apartment in Skäggetorp. In that apartment, the 24-year-old used to stay overnight when visiting his family.

Against the culture of silence

The 24-year-old told the court that the murder of the cousin was a direct result of himself going against the culture of silence prevailing in the district and talking to the police.

- The fact that the court of justice sentenced to attempted murder is an amelioration of the immense suffering my client and his family have endured. My client's call for young people after the attempted murder is to stay away from drugs and that it is not worth risking their own life or their family's life for the drug. But the verdict is also an establishment for society and Skäggetorp where the High Court judgment is a victory over the culture of silence and the very serious death threat that was directed at my client and his family for being involved in the investigation and not being silenced, says attorney Evin Cetin, 24-year-old's representative.

The 24-year-old and his family now live with a protected identity in a secret location.
