- There is great popular support for antibody testing and it is a political priority. So we want to get started as soon as possible. However, it is not realistic this summer. But after the summer, says Kajsa Karro, chairman of the regional board.
Several regions have decided to offer antibody testing. Since June 15, all residents of the Stockholm region have the opportunity to book a sample for antibodies. Uppsala released in 500 places on Wednesday and in Västra Götaland patients and healthcare personnel are being tested.
In the region Östergötland, antibody tests on users and staff of some elderly homes and other special housing started recently.
Antibody testing patients (who have been hospitalized for covid-19) and medical staff on corona patients have also begun.
- Yes we have started with IVA, the Infection Clinic and the departments where covid patients have been admitted. And we continue to broaden, says Kajsa Karro.
Right now it is the infection protection that is doing the tests.
- These tests are different and require staff with blood test skills. It requires good logistics and right now we are having discussions.
The cost of an antibody test will be SEK 200, the regional council has decided, although the cost is actually much higher.
