2019 - Despite a ban by the authorities, the German rescue ship "Sea Watch 3" is docking with 40 migrants on board in the port of the Italian island of Lampedusa. Captain Carola Rackete is temporarily arrested and placed under house arrest.
2018 - At their summit in Brussels, the EU countries agreed to set up reception centers for boat refugees in the EU and to distribute them from there to the states. In addition, the EU's external borders are to be sealed off more.
