It is a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old who have been poisoned for the past two weeks.

"We believe this is about ecstasy sold to the children in Uppsala's western districts," said Jonas Eronen, the police spokesperson.

The dose of drugs in the tablets has become too high for the children who have therefore become ill.

Police now want to warn parents of ecstasy tablets that may be in circulation.

- This is unusual, but obviously someone out there right now is selling drugs to children. We would like to put a stop to the person (s) who want to, and therefore would like to let anyone who has tips on this contact us, says Jonas Eronen.

More may have been poisoned

He believes there may be a dark figure - that more children may have fallen ill from the drugs.

Did the children know that they were taking drugs?

- I don't know for sure. But custodians who find tablets in their children should be vigilant. The tablets can look very innocent and have all sorts of colors and shapes, says Jonas Eronen.

Increase among young people

Hilde Wiberg at Uppsala youth group has noticed that drug use is shrinking in age and that the use of ecstasy is increasing.

- In addition to being dangerous physically, you can end up in an involuntary debt situation if you receive any tablet, she says.

- It is important that parents know how ecstsasy looks and works, and if you need help, you can always contact the youth center.
