Emmanuel Macron must speak to the 150 members of the Citizen Climate Convention, who will be welcomed from 11 a.m. at the Elysée Palace to present their 149 proposals intended to respond to the climate emergency. For the Head of State, the "green wave" on Sunday constitutes a "barometer of the state of mind of the French" and shows that "ecology is at the heart of their concerns," reported his relatives.
Emmanuel Macron also sees in it the success enjoyed by any “disruptive new entrant” even if, according to him, the success of the greens is “relative”, because the election concerned mainly large cities.
To meet these expectations, the head of state will make Monday "a very offensive speech" with "an asserted ecological ambition", which will be decisive for the future, according to his relatives. "The president made commitments to the Convention in January", when he met with its members, recalled the presidency, stressing that he was "very satisfied" with the process. "There are many proposals" on the table and "the president will play on the whole register" of these measures, she added without going into detail.
These proposals "are not limited to the referendum question", according to his entourage, while the Citizen Climate Convention called on the executive to submit to a referendum the introduction of the fight against global warming in the Constitution and the creation of an "ecocide" crime.
Environmentalists have won, according to estimates, a surprising and unprecedented victory in municipal elections, notably in Marseille, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Tours or Besançon.
