"If there is a [green] surge, hop, we come back in six years and we will resume everything". A punchline that speaks volumes. Like an admission of helplessness. It is 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening in the offices of the city hall of Lyon. Hilare in front of the television cameras, Gérard Collomb, the outgoing mayor of Lyon, seems to accept the inevitable even before the ballot boxes officially deliver their verdict during this second round of the municipal elections. The first feedback from polling stations already leaves no ambiguity. The elected official, who ruled the city for nineteen years, knows it: a page is turning.

Sunday evening, the ecologist Grégory Doucet crushed his opponents to win the town hall of Lyon, thanks to a record abstention (62%). He won with more than 52% of the votes cast, far ahead of Yann Cucherat, the colt of Gérard Collomb, who enjoyed the support of the right, announced around 29.7%. And very far from Georges Képénékian, without label, mayor of Lyon, who would collect 17.7% of the votes.

Still unknown in the Lyonnais political landscape, six months ago, Grégory Doucet, a humanitarian executive and employee at the NGO Handicap international, was able to seduce voters. At 46, he became the first environmentalist to lead the city, and paid for the luxury of greatly improving his score in the first round. The elected official, who has since joined forces with the Socialist Party and the rebellious France lists, had already arrived in pole position on March 15 with a score of 28.5%.
